ECZEMA
Eczema is a form of dermatitis (inflammation of skin)
It includes dryness and recurring skin rashes. It usually occurs on face, neck, inner surface of knee and elbow.
CAUSES:
- Eczema is not contagious but it is believed to be hereditary.
- Cold and dry weather.
- Nutritional deficiency.
SYMPTOMS:
- Intense itching is most common symptom.
- Dryness of skin.
- Burning sensation.
- Sometimes it may lead to blisters.
- If it is scratched, it may ooze and become crusty.
- Painful crack may develop over time.
DIAGNOSIS:
- Physical examination of the skin.
- In some cases ‘biopsy of skin’ may be taken in order to rule out other skin diseases.
